yes, Epica's lyrics are, well...deep for lack of a better word. Very deep, very human. So are Nightwish's.
It seems to me that lyric-wise Epica tends to lean more towards philosophy while Nightwish goes more towards emotional. Not exclusively, of course, they each do both, but that's just the general sense I get from them. I can definitely see how their inspirational for you.
